As our current 2020-25 strategy concludes, we're inviting feedback on our new draft strategy ‘ONR Together’ which sets out how ONR will continue to deliver world-class regulation.
Our new strategy comes at a pivotal moment for the nuclear sector. We recognise that meeting the challenges ahead requires innovation - not only in our regulatory approach but in how we set our strategic direction.
Our new rolling strategy represents a significant shift in how we will plan for the future. This new approach will provide us with the agility and flexibility needed to regulate a rapidly evolving sector effectively.
Unlike previous strategies it is not time bound. It will be a living document that will evolve with us and the sector we regulate and will be updated to take advantage of both new opportunities and any potential change in strategic direction.
The draft strategy outlines how we will become a more modern, agile and productive regulator, setting out clear objectives to achieve these ambitions.
We’ve also refreshed our mission and vision statements which will underpin and guide our activities. These updated statements articulate our strategic aims and reflect our commitment to delivering effective regulation of the sector.
Sarah Brown, ONR Head of Policy, said: "The nuclear sector is evolving rapidly, and we must ensure our regulatory approach keeps pace. Our new rolling strategy is designed to provide us with the flexibility and the agility needed to regulate effectively in this dynamic environment.
"Stakeholder input is vital to getting this right. We're inviting views on our draft strategy from anyone with an interest in nuclear regulation – whether you're working directly in the sector or have in an interest in how it's regulated. Your feedback will directly shape our final approach, helping us deliver our mission effectively.
"I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to have their say and share their perspectives with us."
We will be inviting feedback until 9 January 2025. Find out further details including how to provide your feedback.
