The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is delighted that our Chief Executive and Chief Nuclear Inspector, Mark Foy, has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his service to nuclear safety and security regulation.
Dr Nicki Crauford, ONR Chair, said:
“I’m delighted that Mark’s contributions to maintaining nuclear safety and security across our country has been recognised by His Majesty.
“As Chief Executive and Chief Nuclear Inspector, Mark has worked tirelessly in ensuring the safe and secure operation of the nation's nuclear facilities while advancing ONR’s regulatory excellence.
“On behalf of the ONR Board, Senior Leadership Team and staff, I would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Mark on receiving this honour."
Commenting on the news, Mark said: "I am delighted and incredibly humbled to be considered worthy of the honour and to be appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
“This recognition reflects the exceptional work of everyone at ONR and highlights the vital work that the organisation does in keeping the public safe.

Throughout his time as Chief Executive and Chief Nuclear Inspector, Mark’s leadership has strengthened ONR's position as a leading global regulator, enhancing both national and international nuclear safety and security standards.
