ONR strategy consultation

We've published our draft strategy and welcome your feedback to help shape our future direction. A consultation summary document is also available, offering further details to support your response.

Our new rolling strategy represents a significant shift in how we’ll plan for the future. Unlike previous strategies, it is not time bound. It will be a living document that will evolve with us and the sector we regulate, with updates made as required or when we consider a refresh to our strategic direction is needed.

This strategy will guide everything we do. But before we finalise it, we are seeking the input of our stakeholders.

How to respond

The easiest way to share your feedback is through our online form.

If you are unable to complete the online form you can still submit comments to contact@onr.gov.uk . In your response, we kindly ask that you tailor your feedback to addressing the questions in the summary document. You can also submit responses in writing to:

ONR Strategy and Corporate Affairs Team
Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR)
4.S.3. Redgrave Court
Merton Rd
Bootle
Merseyside
L20 7HS

If you require a more accessible format of either the strategy or consultation document, please let us know.
Responses must be received by 9 January 2026.

We aim to publish the final version of the strategy in March/April 2026.

Complaints

If you have any complaints about the consultation process (as opposed to comments about the issues, which are the subject of the consultation) please address them to:

ONR Strategy and Corporate Affairs Team
Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR)
4.S.3. Redgrave Court
Merton Rd
Bootle
Merseyside
L20 7HS
Email: contact@onr.gov.uk

ONR aim to respond to all complaints in accordance with ONR’s complaints process.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can raise the matter with the Information Commissioner’s Office at:

Wycliffe House
Water Lane
Wilmslow
Cheshire
SK9 5AF

Your MP may also ask the independent Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration (the Ombudsman) to review your complaint.
