Information released

We confirm that under Section 1 of the FOIA, we hold the information relevant to your request. However, this information can be found within the relevant Quarterly Local Liaison Committee (LLC) / Site Stakeholder Group (SSG) Reports available on our website. The dates and numbers of inspections during the reporting period are set out on page 3 in each report. In addition, the Executive Summaries of all ONR inspection reports are available through our website.

These reports therefore fall within Section 21 of the FOIA: information reasonably accessible to the applicant by other means (ICO Guidance). This is an absolute exemption and so does not require the public interest test.

Most sites we inspect are licensed under the Nuclear Installations Act 1965.
However, some sites in Scotland such as HM Naval Base Clyde and Vulcan Naval Reactor Test Establishment (Vulcan NTRE) are not licensed nuclear sites, although they operate under an Authorisation from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator (DNSR). ONR does have an enforcement role on these sites which is limited to industrial/ conventional health and safety.

We regulate the following six licensed nuclear sites in Scotland:
