Consultation on the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd EIADR application for consent for Hunterston B power station

We have received an application for consent under the Nuclear Reactors (Environmental Impact Assessment for Decommissioning) Regulations (EIADR) from EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd (EDF Energy) for their proposed decommissioning project at the Hunterston B power station in West Kilbride.

To support this request, EDF Energy has submitted an environmental statement to ONR which presents a detailed environmental impact assessment for the proposed decommissioning project. This details the measures that are intended to avoid, prevent or reduce and, if possible, offset, any likely significant adverse effects on the environment.

We would like to invite comments on the environmental statement in order to inform our decision on the EIADR consent.

Any comments received will be anonymised and shared with EDF Energy following the closure of the consultation. Comments will also be anonymised and published as an appendix to ONR’s consent decision record.

Responses to the consultation should be provided by the 28 March 2024.
