Key findings, inspector’s opinions and reasons for judgement made

I undertook an LC14 inspection of a safety case whilst it was being developed in order to look at the application and understanding of SL’s revised safety case processes. The safety case sampled was the upcoming liquor level management case for MSSS.

I found that the safety case team had applied the revised processes in the spirit in which they were intended. The team were knowledgeable of the requirements of the process and had, in all but a few instances, met the requirements and expectations of the processes.

I have made a few observations of areas for improvement, and one area of good practice; these will be discussed at the forthcoming safety case L4 meeting. There were no new regulatory issues arising from this inspection, but it will provide evidence towards RI-11251.

I judged that the inspection rating was green.

Conclusion

In my view it was clear that the safety case team had applied the revised processes in the spirit in which they were intended. The team were knowledgeable of the requirements of the process and had, in all but a few instances, met the requirements and expectations of the processes. I judge that the inspection rating is green.
