The primary purpose of the visit is to undertake an intervention to assess compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) and the implementation of relevant good practice (RGP).

Key findings
We undertook an Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17) compliance inspection of Urenco UK, Urenco Nuclear Stewardship, and Urenco Chemical Plant at the Capenhurst Nuclear Licenced Site.
We undertook an IRR17 compliance inspection of the Tails Management Facility operated by Urenco Chemical Plant.
Based on the documentation sampled and responses to questions we asked, compliance with IRR17 at Urenco UK Ltd, Urenco Nuclear Stewardship and Urenco Chemical Plant was judged to be of an adequate standard with some minor opportunities for further improvement, these were discussed and agreed with the relevant dutyholders.
The inspection of the Tails Management Facility was judged to be adequate from an IRR17 compliance perspective. Some minor opportunities were identified for further improvement, which were discussed and agreed with the dutyholder.
A Regulatory Issue (RI-11104) was raised to monitor progress on two inspection observations to be addressed by Urenco Capenhurst.
The rating for the IRR17 compliance inspection at Urenco UK Ltd, Urenco Nuclear Stewardship and Urenco Chemical Plant is Green.
Judgements made

The inspection of the TMF was judged to be adequate from an IRR17 perspective. Some minor opportunities were identified for further improvement, which were discussed and agreed with the dutyholder.
