AP1000 Design Acceptance Confirmation

In December 2011, ONR and the Environment Agency granted Interim Design Acceptance Confirmations (iDAC) and interim Statements of Design Acceptability (iSoDA) for the AP1000® reactor design. This identified 51 GDA issues that needed to be resolved before ONR could consider granting a final Design Acceptance Confirmation (DAC).

Since recommencing the GDA process in 2014, Westinghouse has provided additional safety submissions and proposed additional modifications to address these issues.

Having completed the planned assessment of the additional safety submissions and proposed additional modifications to address these Issues, the regulators published a series of summary and technical Assessment Reports on their respective websites. On the basis that all the GDA issues identified in the iDAC had now been resolved and closed, ONR and the Environment Agency granted a Design Acceptance Confirmation (DAC) and Statement of Design Acceptability (SoDA) for the AP1000® reactor design in March 2017.

iDAC/iSoDA

In December 2011, ONR and the Environment Agency granted interim design acceptance to the AP1000 Reactor Design.

The Interim Design Acceptance Confirmations (iDAC) and interim Statements of Design Acceptability (iSoDA) were issued by the regulators following the completion of the the planned assessment of the safety, security and environmental cases proposed by Westinghouse. By issuing the interim documents, ONR and the Environment Agency confirmed that they are satisfied with how designers planned to resolve 51 outstanding GDA Issues.

Having completed the planned assessment of the safety, security and environmental cases for the AP1000®, the regulators published a series of Summary and technical Assessment Reports on their respective websites summarising the basis of their decision.
