Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made

The inspector reviewed a range of topics and identified a number of examples of Norfolk Partnership Laboratory meeting relevant good practice in reducing risk to levels that are as low as reasonable practicable (ALARP), including appropriate appointment of Safety Advisers and Radiation Protection Supervisors, the provision of appropriate Radiation Protection Supervisor training, an appropriate Safety Advisers annual report and dose records demonstrating extremely low doses were received by radiation workers.

The inspector identified no substantial non-compliances, however the inspector made some observations and discussed these during the inspection. These were associated with emergency and contingency plans, equipment on board vehicles, consignment arrangements, determination of Transport Index and consideration of High Activity Sealed Sources (HASS)/ High Consequence Radioactive Material (HCRM).

Conclusion

The inspection findings were presented to NPL at the close of the inspection.

The inspector judged an overall inspection rating of 'Green - no formal action' was appropriate for this inspection.
