To examine the Waste Acceptance Criteria for accepting waste to LLWR.

Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made
We found that LLWR has arrangements in place to develop the WAC from the ESC and NSC. This particular application, developing a compliance framework for accepting the waste on site, is outside the main scope of the ONR guidance. The ONR guidance is aimed at the provision of a safe operating environment and the provision of adequate safety measures with regards to plant and operations. Therefore, a good deal of interpretation was required in making the judgement of acceptability.
Consequently, it is our opinion that for this inspection a rating of GREEN (no formal action) is appropriate for LCs 23, 24. Further aspects of the WAC will be followed up as part of future regulatory activity.
Our findings from the intervention were presented to and accepted by LLWR Ltd on completion of the inspection.
Conclusion
From the evidence presented during the inspection, we judge that LLWR Ltd has adequate arrangements to comply with LCs 23 & 24 with respect to the derivation of the WAC.
