Sizewell A - Inspection ID: 52854

Executive summary

Date(s) of inspection: June 2024

Aim of inspection

As part of the readiness review for the variation of the license of the Sizewell A site, which will see the site of the former substation be transferred to the Sizewell B site, the aim of this inspection was to inspect the new site boundary that will be constructed between the A and B site.

Subject(s) of inspection

  • LC2 - Marking of the site boundary - Rating: Green

Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made

I conducted a site walkdown of the new boundary of NRS Ltd.'s Sizewell A site to judge its adequacy against the expectations associated with Licence Condition (LC) 2 (Marking of the Site Boundary). Sizewell A will have a new site boundary with Sizewell B, as part of the transfer of land (the former A site electricity substation), as part of the Sizewell C project. The inspection was devised to examine how the dutyholder has ensured that:

  • changes to the site boundary have been adequately implemented
  • appropriate fences have been installed

Sizewell A has made adequate arrangements for marking of the new site boundary, in accordance with the new site plan.

Conclusion

From the evidence that I sampled during the course of this inspection, I consider that the licensee has adequate arrangements for marking of the new site boundary at Sizewell A, which will come into force upon the transfer of land to Sizewell B. I therefore consider that a rating for LC 2 of green (no formal action) is warranted for this inspection.
