Public sector bodies who employ 250 staff or more have a legal requirement to publish their progress against the public sector apprenticeships target and submit this to the Department for Education, alongside supporting evidence that demonstrates that they have shown due regard to the target. The current target is that 2.3% of our workforce should be undertaking an apprenticeship.
2021/2022: We recruited ten apprentices, all undertaking NVQ Level 3 Business Administration, meeting the target.
2020/21: Owing to the organisation’s shifting priorities during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to recruit and did not meet the target.
2019/20: We recruited seven apprentices in 2019/20, including three degree apprenticeships in nuclear engineering and science, and four business administration apprentices. Two existing members of staff enrolled onto an apprenticeship. This amounted to 1.4% and we did not meet the target.
2018/19: We recruited 12 apprentices and enrolled four existing employees onto different standards. We met the agreed target.
