This inspection, one of a series of planned inspections for 2020/21 at the GE Healthcare Ltd Grove Centre licensed nuclear site, was undertaken to judge compliance with licence conditions (LC) 32 – Accumulation of radioactive waste and LC34 – Leakage and escape of radioactive material and radioactive waste.
During this inspection ONR assessed the management and storage of radioactive waste at the Grove Centre. This inspection consisted of a review of GE Healthcare’s licence condition arrangements against the published guidance and an inspection of waste management and storage facilities at the site.
Based on the evidence presented during the inspection in my opinion GE Healthcare Ltd’s arrangements for compliance with the requirements of LC32 & 34 are adequate. Additionally the implementation of these arrangements is adequate, however I did identify a minor shortfall with the requirements of LC32 which I will follow up through my routine regulatory engagement with the licensee.
Radioactive waste management at the Grove Centre is compliant with the requirements of the nuclear site licence.
