Draft guidance for inspectors and Nuclear Material Accountants

As part of preparing to deliver a UK State System of Accounting for and Control of Nuclear Material, and providing a domestic safeguards regime after the UK leaves Euratom, we have prepared some initial draft guidance for safeguards inspectors. The draft guidance is for our safeguards specialists to regulate against The Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. Specifically, to judge compliance and inform inspections.

It is based upon ONR practice, regulations and existing safeguards good practice nationally and internationally. The following pieces of draft guidance are now available for comment:

We are publishing detailed draft guidance on inspection and assessment throughout the year as it becomes available for use.

Comments closed on Tranche 1 of the draft guidance on 31 August 2019, but they will remain on the website for reference until finalised by Summer 2020.
