Level 4 meeting to discuss the development of NNB GenCo's Quality Management Arrangements

Executive summary

Purpose of intervention

This was a joint Offive for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and Environment Agency (EA)evel 4 meeting with NNB GenCo dedicated to discussing progress with their Quality Management (QM) arrangements.

Purpose of Intervention

The key purpose was to discuss progress on development of future QM arrangements in NNB GenCo and review organisation of the workstream relating to quality.

Interventions Carried Out by ONR

NNB GenCo explained the following:

The benchmarking work done on selected external organisations and the key elements learned to take forward into NNB's revised arrangements

Additionally the graded approach to QM and non-conformance reporting were discussed.

Key Findings, Inspector's Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

ONR judged the meeting to be very timely. The proposals presented provide a much clearer view of NNB GenCo's intended Quality Management (QM) and Quality Control (QC) arrangements and appear to address concerns previously raised by ONR.

It was agreed that QM should form a new separate topic stream.

Conclusion of Intervention

ONR will continue to monitor the development and implementation of NNB GenCo's QM/QC arrangements via a new routine topic steam.
