Purpose of intervention

This intervention was undertaken to evaluate Nuclear Generation Limited (NGL) readiness to carry out reactor vessel man-entry for inspection of boiler spine integrity at Heysham 1 in compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999.

My inspection did not reveal any radiological protection issues that required action by the NGL or follow-up by ONR.

Conclusion of intervention

From a radiological protection standpoint, I was content with the Licensee's current state of readiness and preparation for the vessel entry.
