Purpose of intervention

I also carried out compliance inspections against the following licence conditions:

Explanation of Judgement if Safety System Not Judged to be Adequate

The safety system inspected was judged to be adequate.

Key Findings, Inspector's Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

I reviewed the process, documentation and staff training used by the licensee to manage the equipment required to support the emergency arrangements and found evidence of clear maintenance procedures that were capable of being understood by operators. The licensee was able to demonstrate that relevant staff undergo regular training.

I reviewed maintenance that had been carried out on emergency equipment and the associated records. I consider that the licensee's arrangements to ensure that emergency equipment is properly maintained are adequate. This inspection also found evidence that the licensee is implementing its own arrangements.

I inspected the safety case that has been produced to manage a waste stream. I have concluded that the safety case is adequate and that the licensee has suitable arrangements to enable implementation of this safety case.

Conclusion of Intervention

From the evidence gathered during this intervention, I conclude that there are no matters that may impact significantly on nuclear safety.
