LC35 inspection - Level 1 exercise

Executive summary

Purpose of intervention

I undertook an inspection of PFR and DFR and other work in accordance with the DSRL inspection plan for 2014/5 and with the intention of providing evidence that DSRL is controlling its hazards properly and is compliant with its statutory obligations.

Interventions Carried Out by ONR

I carried out interventions at PFR and DFR to establish compliance with the requirements of Licence Condition 35, and completed follow up work associated with the closeout of the Fukushima recommendations.

I witnessed the site level one exercise.

Explanation of Judgement if Safety System Not Judged to be Adequate


Key Findings, Inspector's Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

My inspection at PFR and DFR provided me with evidence that both facilities were compliant to an adequate standard with the requirements of Licence Condition 35.

My observation of the level one emergency exercise from within the Site Incident Command Centre provided assurance that the recent management of change, relating to changes to DSRL emergency management arrangements, had been implemented to an adequate standard.

Conclusion of Intervention

The intervention did not identify any matter affecting nuclear safety that required immediate regulatory action.
