LC35 Inpection - Level 1 exercise

Executive summary

Purpose of intervention

In line with the 2014/15 inspection plan for Dounreay I carried out planned inspections and other interventions to provide confidence that Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd. (DSRL) is controlling its hazards properly and complying with its statutory obligations.

Interventions Carried Out by ONR

I undertook compliance inspection against Licence Condition 10 Training and Licence Condition 12 Duly Authorised and Suitable Qualified and Experience Persons in the Cementation Plant. As a member of a team of ONR Inspectors, I observed the Level 1 Emergency Arrangements annual demonstration Exercise.

Key Findings, Inspector's Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

My inspection within the Cementation Plant demonstrated a satisfactory standard of compliance against Licence Conditions 10 and 12. There appeared to be a robust training and assessment process in place. The Level 1 demonstration exercise outcome is recorded in ONR-DNE-IR-14-002.

Conclusion of Intervention

The intervention did not identify any matter impacting on nuclear safety that required immediate regulatory action.
