Executive summary

Purpose of Intervention

This inspection, one of a series of planned inspections for 2018/19 as described in ONR’s Decommissioning, Fuel & Waste (DFW) sub-division’s strategy, was undertaken to assess compliance with licence condition (LC) 14 – Safety Documentation at the Grove Centre nuclear licensed site, Amersham.

Interventions Carried Out by ONR

LC14 requires the licensee to make and implement adequate arrangements for the production and assessment of safety cases consisting of documentation to justify safety during the design, construction, manufacture, commissioning, operation and decommissioning phases of the installation.

This intervention was carried out to assess the licensee’s arrangements against ONR’s requirements.

Key Findings, Inspector's Opinions and Reasons for Judgements Made

Following a review of the licensee’s LC14 arrangements against the relevant guidance I am of the opinion that they adequately meet ONR’s expectations for such arrangements.

Conclusion of Intervention

My conclusion from the findings of the inspection is that safety cases are being developed in accordance with the site’s arrangements for Licence Condition 14.
