This inspection was one of a series of planned inspections for 2018/19 in support of the DFW sub-division strategic objective to confirm that Magnox Ltd are compliant with their legal obligations, and make improvements to safety when it is reasonably practicable to do so.
I carried out LC11 (Emergency Arrangements) and LC24 (Operating Instructions), LC26 (Control & Supervision) and LC28 (EIM&T) compliance inspections. Meetings on site included an Action/Issue review, a joint High Active Waste (HAW) review with SEPA, and a meeting with Site Safety Representatives. I also attended the Chapelcross Site Stakeholder Group (SSG) meeting.
From the documentation examined and the areas inspected I found that the LC 11 arrangements and their implementation at the Chapelcross site were adequate.
I also inspected compliance with the requirements of LC24, 26, and 28 and from the information gathered and the areas inspected I judged that the arrangements and their implementation on site were adequate.
No matters of regulatory concerns were identified as a result of this inspection.
