This report describes an inspection of Magnox Ltd's Trawsfynydd licensed site, undertaken as part of a series of routine interventions set out in the Integrated Intervention Strategy document.
During the intervention I carried out compliance inspections on licence conditions (LC):
I attended a number of meetings that provided updates on the forward decommissioning programme for the site and on the emergency preparedness exercise programme.
This intervention did not include a safety system based inspection.
I found evidence that the site arrangements for compliance with the requirements of LC7 and LC22 are implemented adequately.
I found that the site processes for event reporting, investigation and operational experience feedback are sound. Some opportunities were identified where further learning could be obtained from events.
I found evidence that the respective arrangements for controlling plant modifications and design change requests achieve equivalent standards of control and are therefore satisfactory. Some improvement opportunities were identified that seek to enhance the quality assurance during implementation of the LC22 arrangements.
In the areas I considered during the intervention I found that the implementation of the arrangements for compliance with LC7 and LC22 at Trawsfynydd was to an adequate standard.
