NCSC annual review

Date released
6 November 2019
Request number
Release of information under
Freedom of Information Act 2000

Information requested

Could you tell me whether any of the 658 incidents dealt with by the National Cyber Security Centre in its last reporting year, as revealed in its latest annual report released today, impacted nuclear facilities or nuclear materials in transit?

Information released

I can confirm we do not hold the information you have requested.

Under current policy, incidents reported to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) are not released to regulators as this would breach the trust between respondents and the NCSC, and potentially discourage organisations from reporting serious incidents and thus preclude highly specialist assistance.

You may wish to note however that the nuclear and wider energy sector do not feature in the list of top 5 sectors supported by NCSC incident management.
