Request for a 'structured improvement programme' for AWE

Date released
4 June 2019
Request number
201905008
Release of information under
Freedom of Information Act 2000

Information requested

I notice that a report was recently posted on the ONR website about a 'structured improvement programme' for the Atomic Weapons Establishment (http://www.onr.org.uk/reports/awe-structured-improvement-programme.htm).

Please can you advise me whether the documents you have provided in response to this request (FOI201903065) comprise ONR's structured improvement programme for AWE, and if not, please can you provide me with a copy of the structured improvement programme under the terms of the FOI Act.

Information released

The ‘structured improvement programme’ (SIP) for AWE is a multi-faceted programme of work that has been developed and is owned by AWE not ONR. The report you refer to on our website represents our position with regard to the development of the SIP as of August 2018: http://www.onr.org.uk/reports/awe-structured-improvement-programme.htm. Paragraphs 4 and 5 of the above report explain the development of the SIP in more detail.

The documents provided in response to your previous request (FOI201903065) comprise ONR's 2019/20 inspection plan for AWE and our strategy for how we will target our regulatory focus at AWE corporate activities and within the individual AWE licensed sites.

I hope this clarifies matters but please let us know if you require any further information.
